Use standard or existing
tool and dies
When you can avoid a special die you realize substantial savings.

Order a number of different
labels at once
This way you might be able to achieve big savings with the longer press run, set up charges, materials or in a variety of other areas.
PMS colors are always
less expensive
Special colors may give you that uniqueness but with the cavalcade of colors that the Pantone Matching System provides, you are sure to come extremely close and at considerable savings.
Allow some leeway on
exact label sizes
A little flexibility can go a long way. A small movement of 1/8 or 1/4 of an inch can get you into a standard die or increase the efficency of a run by getting more "up" and eliminating material waste.
Close outs and special purchases Sometimes you can utilize some low cost material that is being discontinued or overstocked. Obviously, this would be for in-house use or packing labels. Product labels almost never should be considered for this type of purchase, as consistency in packaging is of utmost importance.
Lower cost material Ask if there is a lower cost material that would be comparable without compromising label (graphic or adhesive) performance.
Annual contracts Committing to a predetermined level of purchase will give you some price reductions.
Careful ordering Make sure everything is correct before you place the order. Look over every aspect. Reprints are costly. Find balance - order as many as you can but consider that things might change on your label (oz., ingredients, name).
