It is important to understand all of the criteria of an application to provide the most comprehensive solution in meeting your customers needs. Remember the old saying "If you fail to plan you should plan to fail" or something like that. Here are some things to consider when planning your label.

What do I want this label to accomplish?

CHECKPOINTS

Graphics What colors, and artwork will I use?
What marketing message do I want it to send?
Is it legible from a distance?
Do we need a blank space for writing on it or for thermal printing?
Will we use felt pen, pencil, pen, thermal transfer (make/model), computer or typewriter
Physical Where will it be?
How long does it need to last?
Removable (becomes permanent over time), Ultra-removable (very easy to remove) or
Permanent Adhesive?
Repositionable?
Size?
Shape? 
Dull or Glossy Finish?
 

Environmental considerations

Will the label be adhering to glass, plastic, film, shrinkwrap, paper, cardboard, metal, wood, etc.? Be as specific as possible.

Surface is smooth, rough, textured, moist, porous, dusty, etc.

Once applied the label will be exposed to: dust, moisture, chemicals, abrasion, temperature, UV rays, etc.

Temperature at time of application:
     Room temp (50-75 degrees)
     Chilled (32 to 50 degrees)
     Frozen (-20 to 32 degrees)
     Other ______ degrees

Will the labels be applied mechanically? If so, what type of equipment?
